Hail and well met!  The 4th Annual Mid-South Renaissance Faire will need lots of help in 2018.  We have several paid leadership positions open  as well as many non-paid volunteer positions.  Non-paid volunteers will receive a $4 food voucher per 1/2 day shift as well as a free MSRF T-shirt.  You will be able to apply for these positions online below.  If you are hired for a paid position, you will be considered a temporary, short-term contractor, not an employee.  If you have any questions, please contact Beth Kitchen at gwenlock@gmail.com.

General Requirements for all positions:

  • Display a positive attitude with patrons, other workers and the leadership team.
  • The ability to be flexible, roll with the punches and change focus, priorities or position based on the needs of the business
  • For some positions, ability to stand for 4 hours at a time.
  • Ability to remain at your post or perform your duties in the outdoors in temperatures ranging from 35-95 degrees.
  • Ability to do a lot of walking
  • WORKING DATES/HOURS: Patron dates and hours are October 13, 14, 20, 21, 2018  from 10a-6pm.  Shifts, start/end times, break/lunch times may be different than faire patron hours.  Some positions require setup/teardown help, arriving early or staying late on faire days and one or more mandatory meetings in the weeks and months prior to faire.

PAID LEADERSHIP POSITIONS
(must be 18 years old or older):

Salary for paid positions will be somewhere between .2% and .5% of ticket sales depending on candidate experience and the difficulty level and time commitment of the position.  All paid leadership candidates that are being considered will be contacted to schedule an in person interview.

PRODUCTION CREW MANAGER
-Reports to faire owner
-Coordinates with Site Operations Manager
Experience/Requirements:
-Background in construction/building preferred
-Organized and detail-oriented

-Physically fit and able to do physical labor, with breaks, from sun up to sun down in varied weather conditions
-Ability to use hand tools
-Ability to lift minimum 30 lbs, multiple times a day
Position Description:
PRE-FAIRE DUTIES:

-Find (with our help) 4-6 volunteers for the Production crew (builders, artists/painters, decorators)
-Brainstorm with owner and leadership on other new games/attractions and decor
-Schedule and manage build days and craft days
SETUP DAYS DUTIES:
-Coordinate with crew and site ops, if needed, on setup days to setup all attractions and decor
FAIRE DAYS DUTIES:

-During faire, make sure the decor and games are maintained and setup correctly at all times
-End of Day review with faire owner and site ops manager

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
(minimum age 13, minors must have parent’s verbal and written permission):

Volunteers receive free workshop, tshirt, food vouchers and admission for days not working.

SETUP/TEARDOWN RUNNERS (need 8)
-Reports to Site Ops Manager or Site Ops Assistant
Experience/Requirements:
-Physically fit and able to do physical labor, with breaks, from sun up to sun down in varied weather conditions
-Ability to use hand tools
-Ability to lift minimum 30 lbs multiple times a day
Position Description:

Assist with the following on 3 Setup/2 Teardown Days:

-Setup of site ops HQ with tools and equipment inside first
-Setup in-house tents, 5 large, 10 popups +tables and chairs
-Setup of attractions (games, jacob’s ladder, etc)
-Hay, picnic bench & seating setup
-Perimeter bunting setup
-Put up entrance tents and sign
-Put up stage backdrops
-Possible Production crew coordination- decor, signage, A-frame schedules

-Possible Distribution coordination- waters, drinks, tshirts, tankards, coolers
-After storage container is empty, setup dressing area/green room inside
-Assemble trash receptacles and place out on site

“DAY OF” SITE OPS RUNNERS (need 2)
-Reports to Site Ops Manager or Site Ops Assistant
Experience/Requirements:
-Physically fit and able to do physical labor, with breaks, from sun up to sun down in varied weather conditions

-Ability to lift minimum 30 lbs multiple times a day

Position Description:
-During faire hours, assist with site related problems or last minute joust location changes
-Ensuring that the hired sanitation crew have what they need and that site is cleaned up each night and that sanitation crew has emptied all trash cans
-Refill water attractions and doggie water stations nightly
-Ensure that if it rains, puddles in walkways have boards or hay or mulch
-End of day cleanup and cart re-gas/re-charge

-End of Day review with faire owner and site ops manager

BUILDERS & ARTISTS/PAINTERS (need 2-4)
-Reports to Production Manager
Experience/Requirements:
-Background in construction/building preferred

-Ability to lift minimum 30 lbs multiple times a day
Position Description:
-Repair broken attractions or pieces 

-Brainstorm for other new games/attractions and design and build them after approval from faire owner
-Ensure these attractions are setup properly and safely
-Coordinate with site ops team as needed

Position Description:
-Brainstorm for other new decor

-Ensure all maharaja tents are put up correctly
-Put out and refill doggie bowls and any other water attractions
-Ensure ALL signage is up, in the right place, high, straightened, secure and taught
-Put up all decor bunting- around joust ring and as attraction barriers
-Put up all dori poles, ribbons, flags and banners
-Coordinate with site ops team as needed

SECURITY (need 2)
-Reports to Head of Security

Experience/Requirements:

Position Description:
-During faire hours, ensure the security, safety and well-being of all personnel, visitors, property and the premises
-Ensure all personnel and visitors adhere to MSRF’S Rules of the Realm
-Remain in compliance with local, state and federal regulations
-Immediately respond to emergencies to provide necessary assistance to employees and customers
-Follow procedures for fire prevention, crowd and traffic control and accident investigations
-Be patient and positive with patrons and call Head of Security if patron gets frustrated or angry
-Ensure weapons are peace-tied on site

GATE ATTENDANTS (need 4 at all times during faire hours)

Position Description:
-Check patrons for entry credentials at gate- cheatsheet provided

-Ensure that people aren’t trying to get in for free
-Ensure weapons are peace-tied
-Costumed required- faire can assist in acquiring costume if needed- exact requirements to be determined
-Must attend at least one Cast Workshop in either Feb/March or June/July

TICKET BOOTH CASHIER (need 5-10)
-Reports to Ticket Booth Manager
Experience/Requirements:
-Strong math skills

-Basic computer skills
-Background in retail, box office, theater or event venues preferred
-Organized and detail-oriented
Position Description:
-Sell tickets/wristbands at ticket booth

-Promote special events tickets to each and every admission patron
-Fill out wristband/ticket talley sheet and settlement sheet
-Count bank/drawer at begining and end of shifts
-Must attend at least one Cast Workshop in either Feb/March or June/July

-Reports to Bar Manager
Experience/Requirements:
-Must be certified by the local Alcohol & Beverage Commission to server alcoholic drinks

-Background in bar tending or food service preferred

-Experience with point of sale systems
-Organized and detail-oriented
-Physically fit and able to do physical labor, with breaks, from sun up to sun down in varied weather conditions
-Ability to lift minimum 30 lbs multiple times a day

Position Description:
-Serve Beer during faire

-Requires cash handling and making change
-Restock bar with beverages, as needed throughout the faire day

-Must attend at least one Cast Workshop in either Feb/March or June/July

STATION ATTENDANTS (need 20-30)
-Reports to Volunteer Scheduler or Volunteer Coordinator
Experience/Requirements:
Strong math skills

-Background in retail or theater preferred
-Organized and detail-oriented
-Physically fit and able to do physical labor, with breaks, from sun up to sun down in varied weather conditions
-Ability to lift minimum 30 lbs multiple times a day

Position Description:
-Some attractions require cash handling and making change

-Some attractions require a that you hype and bark the attraction
-Some attractions require that you make sure the patron is safe on the attraction
-Must attend at least one Cast Workshop in either Feb/March & June/July
Various Station Attendants needed:
Jacob’s Ladder (cashier & explain game)
Dunk the Dunce (cashier & explain game)
Mini Tug of War (bark and explain)
Any new games we build this year (cashier, bark and/or explain)

Brass Rubbing Center Attendant (assist patrons)
3 Water Station cashiers (cashier)
2 Merchandise Booth Helpers (cashier)
2 Joust Merch Sellers (strolling merchant/cashier)
1 Strolling Merchant

First Aid/Lost Children (radio EMTs and security)
